Neuroanatomy Quiz



The Pakistan’s Neurosurgery Students Society organized the 1st All Karachi Inter Medical Colleges NeuroAnatomy Quiz which was part of the Karachi Spine Update 2015 held at Liaquat National Hospital on Feb 26th and Feb 28th.  Sixteen medical colleges participated , including  Aga Khan University Hospital, Liaquat National Medical College, Dow University of Health Sciences, Jinnah Sindh Medical University,  Dow International Medical College, Ziauddin University,  Jinnah Medical and Dental College, Karachi Medical and Dental College, Hamdard Univerisity, Baqai Medical College, Bahria Dental College, Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry, and Sir Syed Medical College, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Hamdard Al-majeed Medical College, and United Medical and Dental College.


At the first round on February 26th, the sixteen colleges were divided in 3 pools and each pool consisted of 5 teams. The judges’ panel included Prof.  Dr. Amir Ali Shoro (Dean and Principal LNMC), Dr. Ejaz Aslam (Consultant Neurosurgeon, LNH), and Dr. Faiz M. Sheikh (Professor Anatomy, LNMC). Each team was given 5 questions, and 2 teams with highest points were selected from each pool. The 6 finalist, Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry, Ziauddin University, Bahria Dental College, Dow International Medical College, Hamdard University, and Dow University of Health Sciences were selected for the final round on.


The final round was held on February 28th as part of the Neurosurgery Conference Karachi Spine update 2015, in which the eminent guest faculty Prof Mehmet Zileli(Turkey), Prof Joachim Oertel (Germany) and Dr. Hyeun Sung Kim (Korea) were the honorable judges.  In first session of the final round in which two teams were eliminated and there was a tie between DUHS and Bahria Dental College. In order to break the tie, there was a competitive tie break session, in which both teams did exceptionally well, but DUHS finally came to the final 3 teams.

In grand finale round, in which our top 3 teams, DUHS, Hamdard University and Ziauddin University competed against eachother for the first, second and third positions. After answering two questions per team, we had our winners ready. The first position went to DUHS, then Ziauddin University came second and third position was given to Hamdard University.


The Pakistan’s Neurosurgery Student Society is constructed with the aim of providing multiple platforms and opportunity for medical students who are interested in the field of neurosurgery.
