Spine Trauma – CV Junction Spine Workshop

Pakistan Society of Neurosurgeons with World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies – Spine Committee organized a Pre-conference Workshop on Spine Trauma – CV Junction Spine on 13th November, 2019.
Prof. Mehmet Zileli from Ege University, Turkey and Co-Chair of WFNS Spine Committee opened the course by a quick Introduction to the Workshop. The lectures were delivered by Prof. Asif Bashir from Pakistan on Cervical Spine Anatomy and followed by a Pre-Course Quiz by Prof. Azam Ahmed from USA.
Prof. Salman Sharif, President Pakistan Society of Neurosurgeons and Chief of Neurosurgery at Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi delivered lecture on Biomechanics and Clinical application and Posterior Craniocervical Approaches and fixation techniques. Prof. Scott Robertson from USA discussed the Classification of spinal fracture, Prof. Wilco Peul from Netherland delivered lecture on Cervical Trauma Surgery Timings, Prof. Azam Ahmed on Craniocervical fractures, Prof. Mehmet Zileli on Anterior Craniocervical approaches and fixation techniques.
A quiz was again introduced by Prof. Azam Ahmed to evaluate the understanding after which a Hands On Workshop was arranged. There were 5 Stations with Drills, Screws, Cages and Cervical Models and all the participants had hands-On experience on Saw Bones under the surveillance of the Expert Guest Faculty. Each faculty demonstrated different techniques to the participants on the Saw bones.
